Ray, I wish I had your problem! I think. As far as I can tell now, my Downings started in Yorkshire. I think I have found the father of our Francis Downing, but I have no documentation really for that find. Ray., You made me laugh at least and if your statement were true no one will find you or your documentation and I know that is not going to happen. Someone because someone will find you under bush and want your documentation. lol I wish I connected to someone. And someone could find my Nancy Downing married to a Hite. My documentation is hiding with Ray's. Only problem is I only have names no documentation on the Downing line at all. i don't think you are going to find much of a connection among the early downing lines, some married into each other like mine in mason co, ky and pike co,oh. but it was not an uncommon name, with many variations, and you are talking about twor or three countries as a source. but good luck, joe [email protected] > [Original Message] > From: sacher1245 <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Date: 03/10/2004 4:39:37 PM > Subject: Fw: [DOWNING] Downing Migrations > > > > > > > Hmmmm, > > > > A lot of us don't connect. Hello. I have tried to find out how my Downings connect to other lines, but I have been unsuccessful. Maybe a connection could be made by their migrations? Once they were in the states, they were in Vermont for 30 years (in the late 1700's and the early 1800's) and then migrated to Allegany County, New York. Any other Downings with the same migration? Thanks! Jill

Current research, announced last year, indicates that marrying relatives isn't as bad as we were previously led to believe UNLESS the family is known to carry disease, defective genes, etc. which would be made worse by doubling up on the gene pool. They aren't saying marry your brother but your cousin probably isn't a problem. Certainly in my family tree there are plenty of cousin marriages and no known horrid results. In my husband's family, however, it caused major problems. I would say it helps to know your genealogy in detail before marrying your relative. Yes, my greatgrandfather Daniel Downing and his wife Julia Cronin came from county Cork. My grandmother, Anne Margaret (Downing) Cook was also born there and came to West Chester, PA where all three are buried. Several years ago I visited the towns in Ireland where they came from, Ballanagre (SP?) and Dounamore (Sp?). Would love to talk with others with that same heritage. Bill Cooke
Hi Listers, does anyone on the Downing list have irish connections and also London England, I keep seeing American Downings but never any Irish or London England. I am researching the Downings form Co.Cork. then later into London. England. is there anyone there on the list that may have connections with Co.Cork? regards, JUNE.
