Hi Listers I could use some help or suggestions, on how to prove or disprove Edward Downing born 1704 in Buckland Brewer, Devon England is the same Edward Downing married in Hartland Devon England to Mary Heard in 1727. To answer your questions, the Downing Family Historical Society of America web site has been gone for at least a month. I believe that is when the lease on the web space expired. You had to have a member's password to see the information that was there. In one of those unbelievable coincidences, major calamity struck most of the main players at the same time. In one it threatens that person's life and has certainly caused dramatically reduced the quality of life. In others the parties were needed to care for dying family members 24/7. No one could have predicted it that it would happen all at the same time and if you saw it in a movie you wouldn't believe it. Jim Downing did an incredible amount of research for that site and then more work getting it online. It will not be lost. Someone spent long hours saving all the files and is in the process of finding a suitable site for them.
