Nope,Where?
Sorry for mis-using the list messages---I hate it when other people do and I apologize. My line and excerpts from the books I mentioned (The History Of Downingtown, Pa by J. Davidson and Chester County and its People- dated 1896) are pretty much IT. I don't know if copyrights are involved in transmitting whole CHAPTERS of books, but I don't want to be a hog about it, either. Questions pertinent to my "line" (and time frames and area) or people listed in the books covering those time frames I would be happy to look up. I don't have an index of names, but I don't have a wealth of material either. I'll repeat my "line" for anyone who missed it (I also have the whole families listed on sheets of MY kin) John Downynge b. ca1597 Bradninch, Devonshire, Eng. -Edward Downynge b. ca1625 same --Thomas Downinge b.ca1655 same ---Thomas Downing b. 14dec1691 same ----William Downing b.24 mar 1722 Concord TWP. Cheryl, that was just a msg i forwarded, though Shoup sounded familiar, ha! So i am not suggesting anything. the dates were rather late 1800s so don't think that could have been my timothys family, maybe a descendant of your logan co. bunch???? interesting anyway, i didn't post the originator because i didn't have her permission, joe >I'm confused Joe. I'm confused Joe. The Shoup family is connected with my John Downing family. Are you suggesting it is connected to our Timothy Downing too? That would explain a couple things, like why both lines ended up in the same place. I have to check this out further. I think there is more Shoup information in a couple books I have. In a message dated 98-07-08 17:53:20 EDT, you write: << Sections of a book, "Chester County and its People" dated 1898. And the list of families attached to my earlier Downing-list message. I'm having a bit of laptop woes, but I'll be happy to respond to any questions. >> Dianna, is there any reference to John B. Downing, b. 1817, d. 1879 or his wife, Mary C. Downing (maiden name WAS Downing, they were 1st cousins), b. 1826 d 1905? I'd be interested in that line, my gt gt grandparents. More important -- for you.....I'd be glad to print out the family group sheets data that I have for your line up to Alvin Reader Downing if you'd like them. Just e-mail me your snail mail address, and I'll get them off this week. Suggestion, tho....don't put your address on the roots list unless you want the world to know <g. Ray
Well, not much, really. I have copies of copies a cousin gave me. A letter from a desc. of John Downing 1822-1883 dated 1983. SECTIONS of the book,"The History of Downingtown, Penn."by J. Davidson. Sections of a book, "Chester County and its People" dated 1898. And the list of families attached to my earlier Downing-list message. I'm having a bit of laptop woes, but I'll be happy to respond to any questions. Dianna

If you have any problems accessing the web site it is due to a server problem. A portion of Rootsweb is down. Supposedly this will not affect us but you never know for sure. In any event they expect to have everything back up shortly. Best advice if there is a problem: wait until tomorrow and try again. I have no problem connecting with them just by clicking on the link in the email message. I am told [and I've been offline for a couple of days] that there have been all sorts of problems with the internet in the last few days. Perhaps the best solution is to try again. In general, when you get an error it might just mean system overload.
