I received the following piece of information: >The main functions of Surname Helper have been temporarily disabled >because the increased usage of Surname Helper was putting too much >stress on Rootsweb. These routines are currently being rewritten by >Randy Winch in a more efficient language. Once the new routines are >tested and ready, these functions will be re-enabled. It did not include information on how long this will take. I hope it isn't too long. Sherry, How in the world do I get hold of that Burke's book? I can't find a copy around here. Does the Mormon Family Research Center have it on film by any chance? Sue Hodnett

Sue Hodnett Hello Sue, I saw your message in the DOWNING list and I just happen to have CD 185. Yes, your Francis is the same one who came from MD to Fayette Co. I have copied 10 pages from the CD, hard copy. I can't seem to get it to give me a text file. If you will send me your address I will send it to you snail mail. Hello List, I keep getting references to this book: At 09:00 AM 10/19/98 -0400, you wrote: >Gregath-Cochran book has several pages on this family, joe Can someone please list the full title and where a copy can be obtained? Thanks Robb
Can anyone give me a good site for family information, as in the early planters, of VA? I have looked at some early settlers lists, and found the names I want in that particular year. But after that year, there's nothing. The year was 1624 But what happened to people from, say, the West and Sherley Hundred, a corporation of Charles City, VA after 1624? I know there was a abad Indian raid in 1622. But this is a couple years after that, and these people survived. Where do I look? Sue Hodnett
One last request and I'll quit for awhile. Does someone have the Family Tree Maker CD185? It lists a family history from some Francis Downing. Is he the same Francis Downing of Harford County, MD? He would have arrived in Fayette Co., KY in the late 1780's. Sue Hodnett
Would someone with the Family Tree Maker CD118 do a lookup for me? It lists a Francis Downing. I would like to know what it has to say about him. There is a Francis R. Downing listed on Family Tree Maker CD015. Could someone tell me about him? Does it say what the R stands for? Thank you. Sue Hodnett (Needless to say, I don't have these CD's and can't buy them right now)
Family Tree Maker's Internet Family Finder has a lot of references to Francis Downing and Descendants. Does each reference list the submitter? What I am looking at say some of the references are from user hom pages and some from the Genealogy library, and some from the internet. How do I find out who the submitters are? Sue Hodnett
Can someone with access to Family Tree Maker check out a reference to a francis Downing home page by Donald A. Downing. I have tried to make contact with him, with no luck; I can't find him anywhere. there are a lot of references to the descedants of Francis Downing. Are they all pertaining to the same Francis Downing, born 1736/1746? In one I know he is married to Henrietta Viley. Does one hve him married to a Susannah? Sue Hodnett
I have come upon a bad contradiction in records; ships list, and an early settlers list put Francis Downing b abt 1600 in West and Sherley Hundred in 1624, having come there aboard the ship "The Return". Internet Family Finder says this Francis came there aboard the ship "Charles" in 1621; in both instances he is listed as a Throgmorton servant. Some other reocrd was supposed to list him as coming over here in 1621 aboard the ship "Seafloure". Can anyone help me straighten this out? Could he have been aboard all three ships? If so, in what capacity? Surely not that of a servant? Sue Hodnett
Can anyone help me with this connection? I found it on the Internet Family Finder, but I don't understand it. Help, please! Sue Hodnett
Cleaning out some old files I came across these notes which must be 25 years old. I don't know if they are useful to anyone but here they are. PASSENGER & IMMIGRATION LISTS INDEX by P. Sherry, One more question: Was there any indication that this Francis was not a male? Sue Hodnett
Sherry, Thank you. This may be where the 1726 date comes in for our Francis. I have seen three dates for him: 1726/1736/1746. This might lead to something. If you come up with anything else on this Francis please let me know. I appreciate this very much. Sue Hodnett
