Milly, after I sent those emails about my experiences with survivor's guilt, I went to my bedroom & cried. I just got back from taking a ride to get it off my mind. That happened when I was 13, and I'm 61. It never goes away completely. I had dreams every night for a year until I was afraid to go to sleep. One of the girl's older sister went to the mental hospital several times after suicide attempts. She took them to the river. She was on drugs until the day she died. We all make stupid decisions that could have ended in tragedy, but when it happens, it's hard to forgive yourself. It's also hard for friends and family to forgive the person too. We want to blame someone. I loved that sister & she loved me like we were sisters & though I never let her know, I never completely stopped blaming her until she died. The daughter and mother started arguing and then I heard hitting each other. So the mother told the brother to pull over and let her out. She wasn't dressed for the weather. She was in dress clothes and it was a very very cold night. Others went out looking for her but couldn't find her. two days later they found her body frozen. Her cell phone was dead. No fowl play...
