Shirley & Dot Jo I did a report in 7 th grade for molasses making. I was at my step parents in Anderson Co TN when it was molasses making time. If I remember right there was a post and on it was a long horizontal pole and it was attached to a mule. Two big round stones was attached to mule pole. The sugar canes were placed through the stones. As the mule went around in a circle the liquids from the canes was run into a long trough. A fire was kept going under the trough. As the liquid boiled we skimmed the foam off. This was an all day process. The last time I was in Tennessee at the General Store in Forbus I bought a jar of Molasses...yummy! I haven't been in Muddy Pond in a very long time. Milly WARD Piros We do not inherit the land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.
