This happened about 30 minutes from me. Would have Like to have been the judge. 15 years for ruining some one like and blinding him. He deserved to die. The world is in bad enough shape with out that kind taking up space!!! Dot Jo Blacksburg man will spend 15 years in prison for hurting his infant son, who is now blind, a judge ruled Monday. Lloyd Wayne Sheppard, 27, was convicted of aggravated malicious wounding at a hearing in October. A second charge of child abuse was dropped. At his sentencing hearing Monday in Montgomery County Circuit Court, Sheppard told the court he was using crutches because he had an injured ankle when he accidentally dropped the baby on the kitchen floor in January 2008. An ophthalmologist testified, however, that the infant's injuries were not consistent with being dropped but were consistent with repeated episodes of being shaken. The child is blind in his right eye and nearly blind in his left, the doctor testified. Circuit Court Judge Bobby Turk sentenced Sheppard to 30 years in prison, with half of that time suspended. Upon his release, Sheppard must spend 10 years on supervised probation.
