Shirley H.  All I can say, is you either get use to it or you don't.   I am sure just about every nurse has a story to tell in the beginning of their career of how, and why, they almost gave up nursing.............................I loved it from the beginning, but had some moments too......................sam When I was going to school in Ashville, NC for med lab tech at one  point we had to do vena punctures with our partners.. My hand was shaking like a  leaf but I did it!  The worse part was when we were instructed to bring a  speciman of some "poop" to class to look at smears through microscope.. But I  sure wish I had finished that trainning back then.. I remember one time my  roommate had a very bad infected in grown toe nail and she asked me to go with  her to the doctor..I went and while in the room the doctor said he would have to  lance it.. here he comes with a needle to deaden and then lanced the thing..when  I saw him doing that I literally fainted.. I'm not kidding..So no nursey nursey  for Shirley girl ! LOL  No nurses aide either.. Nakai and I went to visit  my friend Ella at the nursing home and as it was Sunday it was overflowing with  visitors and we had to park on the side parking lot and entered the side  entrance door.. First that hit me was the aweful smell of messed up undies..  whew was aweful smell and I know NA clean up that mess.. Sorry folks but I have  a very weak stomach.
