Dot Jo, I had never heard of it either.   The Bobcat has the parasite, and the tick feeds off the bobcat.  It drops off, and apparently goes through another stage before it hitchhikes to another animal.   It only affects cats.   Trouble was bitten by one, the vet said it didn't stay on her, and I couldn't see why it got on her in the first place, she is well protected from fleas and ticks..............none the less, she is one sick kitty...............we are going down in the morning and take her some more of her favorite foods, hopefully she will be ready to eat a little ..................Vet said Trouble is the 5th case in two weeks, one died, and 2 are still in the animal hospital,   Up until this year there was no treatment nor cure.  If caught early enough they can survive.   She thinks Trouble's was caught in time............Ticks are the worse here since 1998, according to the vet.........we spray everything that humans and the animals  go, going to keep on spraying , maybe between all the rains we have had, weakened the pesticides................sam.
