    1. [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Cold temps
    2. Hi List, I sent this letter to the appalachian-life@rootsweb.com So I thought maybe you all would also like to read it... Talking about cold weather..here in Cleveland OH it was -10 when I got up at 7:30 am. Our high for the day will be 2...By next week we will have a heat wave in the 20's. I have about a foot or more of snow. When we lived in Anderson Co TN in the coal mine region, we had no furnace. Only a wood cook stove and in between the two bedrooms was a "grate" to heat both rooms. If you strayed about 3 ft away your front side would freeze. I was the person at 9 years old who had to "bank" the "far" at night and to start it in the morning. Sometimes I swear I thought every tooth in my mouth would break from banging together till I got that "far" started. It was even worse trying to pump water and carrying it to the house, because it was outside. We didn't ever have too much snow but the ground would freeze and you could hear a great crunch as you walked. If you breathed real hard through your nose it would freeze together.....That was a funny feeling. Us kids would make our nostrils freeze just for the fun of it...Never did stick our tongues to metal though.... I do remember the times it did snow and stay on the ground, we had "snow Cream".. That was a delight!... Milly WARD Piros If you see someone without a smile, Give them one of yours **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
