Wasn't that the mode of transportation way back in our olden days when life was simpler than it is today in our space age days.. I can remember my McCartha grandmother on her farm way back yonder days outside?with a huge kettle full of hot water, boiling her clothes and stirring them with a long stick.? And my stepmom had the modern convience of a washing machine..the wringer type.? And that same grandmother used a long wooden box to store blocks of ice as her refrigeration.? She had a well right next to her back porch and an outhouse as well.. I hated that smelly outhouse!? Thought my fanny was too good to sit on that wooden potty when I was visiting her.? I sure did love her feather bed though!? She had a big cast iron stove as well.
