No, they're not fighting him so much as saying wait till we have a plan that works....No one wants us to keep the mess we have permantly but wait till we have a better one to do something....Obama is a silver-tounged liar...He's better than Regan (the teflon prez) and he's better than Clinton at saying one thing, getting by the American people and then doing another or what he pleases.....Jenny Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: june<mailto:hjfore@windstream.net> To: down-home-chatter@rootsweb.com<mailto:down-home-chatter@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009 9:17 AM Subject: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] I watched the entire thing. June, you're wrong we do read these letters....This is one way of working together, sharring opinions. .....If there were only one this thing would not be hard to ge t done anyway and there would be no arguments, but that is part of what makes America great.....Kinda like the guy from SC being able to speak up......A lot of people object.....Maybe the setting was wrong but I fully believe that everyone , no matter their race ,politics etc has that right to say what they please or think........The way this health carw bill has more loop holes in it than a box of cherrios....It's dangerous for us all......Jenny Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: june<mailto:hjfore@windstream.net> To: down-home-chatter@rootsweb.com<mailto:down-home-chatter@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009 9:23 AM Subject: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Work together Instead of just standing and yelling and writing emails that no one reads these people should stand up and work with the people who are trying to work out a health care plan that will benefit us all. June I know you watched last night. I did also and listened to each word carefully. I still will stick with the President. Every word made sense to me. I have been one of those people with no health insurance. I was without it from age 56 1/2 till 65. I put off going to the hospital when I had gallbladder disease. Most of you don't know I almost died. I endured a lot of pain and an infection set in. I was in the hospital for 6 days. I should have been able to go home the next day. I was very lucky. The doctor who did the operation did it for FREE. My hospital bill was forgiven. It was $25,000.00 after the AARP plan I had. I did have to pay the anesthetist and the xray doctor as well as a few other bills. I am for the health plan..but a wise one. Not run by the government. But some how affordable by US the people. When I did try get insurance I could not afford it. They wanted over $500 a month. I did have AARP's United Healthcare. They paid $8000.00. The government one in Canada sucks. I know from first hand. My mother in law had a spot on her lung that they played off. When Val <<sister in law brought her over here to care for her we had to take out a special policy for $2200.00. USA don't accept Canada's plan and Canada won't pay it. Needless to say my MIL died from cancer which could have been caught. My husband's cousin who lives in London ONT has been ill for 2 years and they keep blowing him off. Not telling him what is wrong. Also Canada has a tax that pays for the healthcare. They have at last I heard 7.5 regular tax and GST tax of either 7.5 or 8.5. Can't remember. If a person from USA buys anything in Canada they can get back the GST tax they paid while visiting. Don't think for a minute that elderly people will be left to die or that illegal immigrants will get free care with a health plan. Why not tax the rich. they get away with too much now. They won't miss the money. What is $15,000.00 to someone who makes $250,000.00..Pea-nuts. oh well only a few will see the great possibilities... Remember tomorrow....September 11...Sad day in history Milly WARD Piros We do not inherit the land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. Native American Proverb

Milly, I did watch it. I appreciate the president trying to work with the people who are so against trying to work out a reasonable plan. They are more intent on fighting than on trying to make things work. More politics than reason - it is so sad!! I am one of the one million people who signed the petition that was delivered to the white house today protesting Obama's health care plan.. and I thought some of you might find that this letter below hits the nail right on the head.. I couldn't have said it better! Shirley H This lady has it nailed. We need more like her and all of you. Lets stop this runaway government. Read it all and get inspired. We are the people. They work for us. This affects all of us, all parties. Subject: We The People Are Coming. Janet Contreras, 53 Year Old Woman In Arizona The following letter read on Glenn Beck's show is rapidly circulating around the country. Many Americans everywhere identify with this 53 year old woman. She has given us a voice. Please forward to your friends. June 18, 2009 10:01 PM The woman who sent the long email letter below to Glenn Beck made her name known to him in a telephone interview the next night. She is Janet Contreras, a 53 year old woman in Arizona, a citizen fed up with the House, Senate, Administration, Democrats, Republicans. During the interview she said "I don't want this. I don't want this fight, Glenn. I don't have the time, energy or financial resources for it but that no longer matters. It no longer matters if I'm able or if I want this fight. I have to take it on. It's not a matter of choice anymore, which is why I wrote the letter." "The other part of this is that the invisible people who can and do represent my views need to come out of the shadows. I don't know who they are. They're going to get washed away with the rest of them if they don't have the courage to stand up against the Administration and those members of the House and Senate who are destroying our country and our values." Janet Contreras Phoenix, Arizona Her Letter is below. June 17, 2009 Glenn read this email letter on his Glenn Beck Show. She identified herself in a phone call the next night as Janet Contreras from Arizona. GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona. She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership: I am a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to solve issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to solve the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me you are there and you are willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask what are my views and issues that I feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. Well, these briefly are my views and the issues for which I seek representation: One -- Illegal Immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty. Never again. Been there, done that, no resolution. PS, I am not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration. Two -- The TARP Bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal. TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program). The Wall Street handout bill, under President Bush, to address the subprime mortgage crisis, to purchase or insure up to $700 billion of "troubled" assets. Three -- Czars. I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the 37 czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it. Four -- Cap And Trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say. Five -- Universal Health Care. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and go on break. Slow down. Six -- Growing Government Control. I want States Rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Start there. Seven -- ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I also want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I want all our money to them stopped. Face up to the allegations against them and get them resolved before getting any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate. Eight -- Redistribution Of Wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why? What do you have against shareholders making a profit? Nine -- Charitable Contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves. Ten -- Corporate Bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a BandAid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us. Eleven -- Transparency And Accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try. Please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to criminal investigation of you. Stop hiding things from me. Twelve -- Unprecedented Quick Spending. Stop it now. Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some non politicians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, militant or violent person. I am a parent and grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy and I'm tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on weekends, be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same - all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave. I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble through a bill you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it, but you expect I should trust you with the debt you have, without caring or conscience, laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure we still can. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of your recent spending. >From my perspective, it seems all of you have gone insane. I also know I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed passed us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford - to spend on you - to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president knows all the buzzwords are unsustainable. No kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with those buzzwords? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like morons. We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long - because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives we will never come for you? We are the former silent majority, all who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone - and we are now closely looking at you and the huge mess you created for all of us. You have awakened in us the patriotic spirit, so strong and so powerful that had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They will surprise you. For every one of us who come after you there will be hundreds more who could not come. Unlike you we have their trust. We will represent them honestly. Rest assured they will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are off. We are very angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us who will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes you have made of our constitution. Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us in front of the whole world. If you are not representing the needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear that? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will fire you and they cannot save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Wow ! Thanks for sharing Shirley H. You bet , I will check this very carefully from now on..............never heard of this before. Sam My cousin sent the following to me.. whether true or not good to always check the receipt! Shirley H check your receipts Yes! This is True! It happened to me at Wal-Mart (Super Store on Clinton Highway, Knoxville TN) a month ago. I bought a bunch of stuff, over $150.00, and I glanced at my receipt as the cashier was handing me the bags. I saw a cash-back of $40.00. I told her I didn't request a cash back and to delete it. She said I'd have to take the $40.00 because she couldn't delete it. I told her to call a supervisor. Supervisor came and said I'd have to take it. I said NO! Taking the $40.00 would be a cash advance against my Discover and I wasn't paying interest on a cash advance!!!!!! If they couldn't delete it then they would have to delete the whole order.. So the supervisor had the cashier delete the whole order and re-scan everything! The second time I looked at the electronic pad before I signed and a cash-back of $20.00 popped up. At that point I told the cashier and she deleted it. The total came out right. The cashier agreed that the electronic pad must be defective. Ob! viously the cashier knew the electronic pad was defective because she NEVER offered me the $40.00 at the beginning. Can you imagine how many people went through before me and at the end of her shift how much money she pocketed? This could probably happen at any store where they give you cash back, so be cautious. Just to alert everyone. My co worker went to another Wal-Mart in west Knoxville last week. She had her items rung up by the cashier. The cashier hurried her along and didn't give her a receipt. She asked the cashier for a receipt and the cashier was annoyed and gave it to her. My co worker didn't look at her receipt until later that night. The receipt showed that she asked for $20.00 cash back. She did not ask for cash back! My co worker called Wal-Mart who investigated but could not see the cashier pocket the money. My co worker then called her niece who works for the bank and her niece told her this. There is a scam going on. The cashier will ask for cash back and hand it to her friend who is the next person in line. Please, Please check your receipts right away when using debit cards. The store has the cashier under investigation now. We can only pray that she is caught very soon. Nan Herman I am adding to this. My husband and I were in Wal-Mart in Pigeon Forge, Saturday and paying with credit card when my husband went to sign the credit card signer he just happened to notice there was a $20.00 cash back added. He told the cashier he did not ask nor want cash back and she said this machine has been messing up and she canceled it. We really didn't think anything of it until we read this email. Please be aware. KAT CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS VERY CAREFULLY! . Let me add that this also happened to me last week at the Walker Springs Wal-mart. I did NOT ask for cash back, but my receipt showed that I had.
