    1. [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Molasses
    2. Shirley & Dot Jo I did a report in 7 th grade for molasses making. I was at my step parents in Anderson Co TN when it was molasses making time. If I remember right there was a post and on it was a long horizontal pole and it was attached to a mule. Two big round stones was attached to mule pole. The sugar canes were placed through the stones. As the mule went around in a circle the liquids from the canes was run into a long trough. A fire was kept going under the trough. As the liquid boiled we skimmed the foam off. This was an all day process. The last time I was in Tennessee at the General Store in Forbus I bought a jar of Molasses...yummy! I haven't been in Muddy Pond in a very long time. Milly WARD Piros We do not inherit the land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. 3. Dot Jo we are to be like 103 for the next 3-4 days, enjoy your fall weather, wish we could. You just stay put where you are, there is no better or cheaper place to be than there, you have your roots there, kids, grandchildren and much family, thats about as good as it gets. we moved from Ok. to Ca. in 1951, what a culture shock, I lived in the country, our whold 12 grades in school, had 200 or so. we left my grandparents there, cousins, aunts, uncles & friends. its too hard to start over away from your family. things are so expensive anymore, food has gone up so much, there are so many people here, with no jobs, and losing their houses. I notice even Walmart, has gone up in their prices on everything.... Take care Mildred > Mildred, We dropped down into the lower 70's thought winter was here!!! > been calling for rain the past week but haven't gotten any. then the > temperature went back up into the high 80's with a possiable drop again > this > weekend into the 60's. 3. Milly, after I sent those emails about my experiences with survivor's guilt, I went to my bedroom & cried. I just got back from taking a ride to get it off my mind. That happened when I was 13, and I'm 61. It never goes away completely. I had dreams every night for a year until I was afraid to go to sleep. One of the girl's older sister went to the mental hospital several times after suicide attempts. She took them to the river. She was on drugs until the day she died. We all make stupid decisions that could have ended in tragedy, but when it happens, it's hard to forgive yourself. It's also hard for friends and family to forgive the person too. We want to blame someone. I loved that sister & she loved me like we were sisters & though I never let her know, I never completely stopped blaming her until she died. Then, I realized how stupid I had been. I am so very sorry that this double tragedy has happened to your friends, your children, and you. ---------- This message is from a Virgin Mobile customer. 3. MIlly, you don't even have to feel responsible for the person's death to have survivor's guilt. Your mind will play over & over what you could have done that would have changed things. My friends stopped by my house on the way to the river. I was told later they stopped to ask me to go, but for some reason they never asked me. My feelings were hurt, because we went everywhere together. My mom did ask me if I wanted to go with them which was very much out of character for her. I thought a minute & said no. I tried to commit suicide 3 times & eventually was put in a mental hospital where I received counseling that made me lose the wish to kill myself and want to live, but the pain and guilt took many more years to become tolerable. I hope this helps you to understand why. God bless all of you. Love, Jinnye ---------- This message is from a Virgin Mobile customer. 3. Mildred, We dropped down into the lower 70's thought winter was here!!! been calling for rain the past week but haven't gotten any. then the temperature went back up into the high 80's with a possiable drop again this weekend into the 60's. Am hoping we are going into Indian Summer which is what I love in the fall. You know we have talked a lot about selling out and moving some where else, our county is so expensive, but I can't think of another place I would want to live. There is beautiful places all over the county and I love to visit them but when it comes down to it I want to go back to Virginia and HOME. All the family are fairly close to home and drop in every day don't think I could live with out that. The only one any distance away is a granddaughter in Texas all kids, grandkids and great grandkids are close to home. Which is extra nice.!!!! 3. It dropped down into the upper 40's here in Iowa, fog, fog and more fog. Highs to be in the 70's today. It's a reminder that fall has arrived. Not long before we start harvest. The guys are getting the combine ready and the grain carts calibrated and so forth. Nancy

    3. Hi Milly, Dot Jo, It is cool and overcast here this morning too. Looks like it could rain here but in Texas you can never tell. My arthritis is acting up so I know the weather has changed. Not too soon for cooler weather to suit me. June > morning Milly, It is foggy here suppose to be in the high 80's today then > cool down for the weekend. 2. Prayers are being answered for this boy and family and tonight I learned his first grade teacher is having a open house to make money for his bills. Our Church already has a fund set up for the family. I think his teacher is our granddaughter's teacher. I will find out from our daughter. Carolyn In a message dated 9/23/2009 8:22:57 P.M.
