A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME . Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which Were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard. ' Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen. Coffee was fifteen cents a pound. Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo. A few patches of freezing rain are briefly possible in the Metro area of Memphis. Highs today in the city will likely not hit 40. The wind chill will probably hover near 32 degrees. Tonight features lows in the middle 30s in the heart of our city with more steady rains. Frozen precipitation will still be possible across our Northern reaches so exercise extreme caution if you will be on the roadways in those areas, basically anywhere North of Memphis. Showers continue for our Tuesday with highs pushing to around 42 degrees, so frozen precipitation should not be a worry. Rain may finally begin to subside tomorrow night. Dry conditions will then return on Wednesday with chilly yet seasonal highs in the 40s. Look for mainly sunny skies Thursday as highs return back into the 50s. TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A Tifton woman who is becoming a live donor has inspired others to do the same. 26-year-old Jessica Hall originally wanted to donate to a 7-year-old Atlanta girl who asked Santa for a kidney for Christmas. Hall could not donate to her, but she is now testing to be able to help another woman. Hall's two sisters are now also being tested to be able to donate their kidneys to others awaiting transplants. Everyday 17 people die waiting for an organ transplant. They hope they inspire others to become live donors. God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you NEED. This was posted on another list I belong to. It could open up a lot of doors for me In the 1930s during the depression, the government gave money to the states to copy old records. That has preserved history, helped students, authors, genealogist and many others with research. There are court records in the County Court Clerk's Office of each county, of each state, that give the Partitions for Sale which names all members of families and lots more information. Many of us buy rolls of this microfilm and the states will receive dividends of this for years. The 1930s material is being sold and used today. This is a win-win situation for everyone and returns money to government. It will pay it's own way and can begin immediately. Please apply and let the President's Stimulus Package do this. Jenny, When Bob died while driving his van to work, they had to do an autopsy. On his driver's license he stated he wanted to be a donor...but with the autopsy he couldn't, except for his eyes. I signed for them and the Blind Center sent me a letter stating two people could see because of my husband's beautiful blue eyes.
