    3. Gee Shirley, I wish I had your electric bill. Our never ran over $100.00 a month (total electric) then the power co. put in a computer system & they read the meter that way & they also had a rate increase & now our electric bill is running $180.00 to $ 190.00 a month. Can't believe we are using that much more power that we did in the years past. We knew it would go up a little but not double. Am eating some sugar free jell-o ( lemon ) as I have both of my scopes tomorrow. Have spent the past 36 hrs. getting ready for them tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. Will let you know the out come. 2. Bobbie, I remember that time when you were remodeling your home!? we live in an apartment now.. I like it but Nakai misses working in the yard which is understandable.. But you know that was what he was doing at Maile's home ( cutting the lawn) when he had that slight stroke.. So he doesn't need to be out doing that streneous work anymore.. There is a community garden here and I told him that perhaps we could go raise a garden there this summer .. Well, I am going to have a snack.. Fatty Patty Shirley H

My cousin heats with gas & his bill was $406. My brother & his wife had a electric over $500. I keep our thermostat sitting on 70, but there are times Arvil will turn it up a couple of degrees. 3. From: makekaus@aol.com I'lll look forward to seeing those pictures. How is your dear mother doing? Mom is doing about the same. Thanks for asking. She is doing well physically. It's just her breathing that bothers her. She has COPD, so is on 3 different inhalers per day. It absolutely tires her out to get ready to go anywhere, so that's why she stays home most of the time. I still visit her every evening & I enjoy doing so. We sit & talk a lot about the good old days. I tell her about things I have found in my genealogy and she tells me stories about things that happened when she was growing up. She really has become my best friend in every sense of the word & I don't know what I will do when I should lose her. I pray I get to keep her for years to come. She's 78 now. Bobbie

    3. Shirley, Arvil & I are on a budget now also. He wasn't able to go back to work after his surgery in June. So, since he was already 62, he signed up on his SS. I have worked for the last 3 census. I'm thinking about doing it again. It doesn't matter where the census headquarters are. They need enumerators to list each house & address, so they have to have workers in your area, also. You can work within your county. They pay an hourly rate, plus you get so much for the miles you drive on your car. Bobbie

Sherri, what is the proper way to eject the drive????? I always just click on the X in the upper right hand corner to close it & then unplug the USB port. Is that OK? Or should I do it another way? 3. From: <makekaus@aol.com> Girls, do any of you use a "flash drive" to back up your genealogy?? If you do could you tell me how it works etc.. Shirley, I usually back up my genealogy on a CD or my zip drive. I had a zip drive on my old computer, so when I bought the new computer, I went ahead & bought an external zip drive. I had spent so much money on all my zip disks, I hated to lose all that storage space. I do have an external hard drive. Arvil got me a 500 GB one for Christmas. All I do is plug it into a USB port & it will show up beside my C drive under "My Computer". Now, I store everything on it, so it doesn't slow my PC down. I guess it works just like the smaller flash drives. Bobbie

    3. Hi Shirley, A flash drive is just a minature external hard drive. It plugs into your USB drive and you can access the files on it from there. You can use it to back up files, move files from one computer to another, or anything similar. You plug it into your USB drive and it pops up like an additional drive when you look in "My Computer". You can make different folders on the flash drive just like you do on the hard drive on your PC. To back up or copy files, select them on your hard drive, then choose "copy to" and choose the flash drive as the destination (or the folder that you've made on the flash drive). The one thing you need to make sure of is that you properly eject the drive before removing it from the USB port or you take the chance on corrupting the entire drive and losing everything (spoken by one that's had the personal experience of doing that!) Hope that makes sense.
