Sam, I wonder if that comes from being the oldest, I have a baby sister that is the same way. My middle sister and I would set days and go out and Spring clean my mom's house every year. The daughter next to me was in Pa. and just come home to visit each year. Baby sister said you all are crazy working your a-- off for nothing. Mom was like Larry with the bone on bone in both knees and couldn't hardly get around. So a week after we had cleaned you couldn't tell it hardly, but at least it started off clean. Mom didn't like house work but outside work she was in heaven. milked cows, chickens, worked the garden when she was able. hard worker before knees gave out. But this daughter taught she was owed something and didn't do anything. The one that cried the hardest and cause all the stink when mom died. THEN, about 12 grandson informed me he had to leave for work in an hour. Fixed his lunch,packed his dinner then got a call daughters well had gone out. So left everything and Larry and I took off up there to help with that. They got that fixed so I pulled weeds around her flower beds while she took baby for it's shots. Sun. night, we had pinto beans, fried potatoes, cornbread; Mon. night it was chili; Tue. night it was hotdogs; Wed. night we had tacos; Thur. night was the all-time favorite; we cooked breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, plain gravy, chocolate gravy. On Fri. night, we got a break. Some of the guys grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and sliced pork. Everybody brought food to finish out the meal. We didn't have to bother with dessert each night. The ladies of the church brought desserts. I'm not planning to do much this week. Just need to rest up a little. Going to donate blood today. If I can donate today, that will make 5½ gallons. I've been donating for several years. Run inside every few minutes to grab a load of clothes and put them on the line. Here I sit in the middle of the yard clipping away when up pulls this big white truck. Lady gets out and asks are you aunt Sallie's daughter? It was a first cousin I hadn't seen in about 40 years with her nephew whom I hadn't seen since he was tiny!!!! Sure was glad to see her we had a nice little visit in the middle of the road. Several members of her family had passed away and she didn't know, including my mom. THEN, about 12 grandson informed me he had to leave for work in an hour. Fixed his lunch,packed his dinner then got a call daughters well had gone out. So left everything and Larry and I took off up there to help with that. They got that fixed so I pulled weeds around her flower beds while she took baby for it's shots. Came home, washed luncheon dishes, gathered in clothes, mopped kitchen took a shower and am relaxing before folding clothes and putting them away. Have to can beets tomorrow. June , we are about 23-24 miles outside of Norman, Oklahoma............we are country..................I had only seen one other wild pig in the years we have been out here on our land.   This was 2 huge ones, they are really mean.  Jim had gone to do the marketing, and I didn't get the bullets in the gun fast enough.   I don't think I could have killed them if I tried....................one of our neighbors about half a mile away, killed two, just a few days later.  I am assuming those were the ones down here.........................They can be really scarey.........................sam Sam, Where are you? Shirley H. It stormed all night last night; thunder, lighting, wind, & 3 + inches of rain.. Didn't sleep very good as it was very noisy. It is only 73 here but is sunny & bright. Dot Jo, believe me, I WATCH the storms very carefully.......or so I thought.   That storm friday night kinda came upon us, with no warning.   My older daughter called to see if we were ok, just as I was going to get in the shelter.   Never dreamed that an F2 had touched down,, and was on the ground for over 10minutes, moving right in the field behind her house.   Blake , our grandson, came flying out of the den , telling his mom a shed just flew past the window.   When I was over there sunday, I could not believe the damage.  Daughter only had her fences blown down, but her neighbors on both sides of her, lost parts of roofs, trees uprooted and missing, brick torn off the house on her right side.  Much more damage to the farmer behind her, part of his house was blown away.......many more blocks took a big hit...daughter, had a trampoline and a slip and slide on her front lawn, and roof of her house..............I felt bad, because I thought both she and our other daughter were safe.   In 1999, same thing happened there, the sirens didn't go off.   There was a delay of exactly 15 minutes.   Both times 99' and friday, was too late to take cover.  It is a wonder no one was killed.   Serveral injured, but with no warning, our Lord was certainly watching over them.   SAM Marilyn you and Sam, watch them storms seems you are getting a lot of tornado's out your way.  They seem to be coming closer to our area this year.  We had one "Hugo" several years ago but that is the only one in our area that I know about.  W.Va. gets one every now and again but NOT like you do.    be verrrry verrrrry careful   dot jo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn/Don Rickman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 4:07 AM Subject: Re: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Dot Jo > Sam, We are getting a HECK of a STORM right now. Marilyn, those storms came out of Kansas, and went east, thank goodness you didn't get the many tornados that Kansas had................We got a soaking rain, that watered everthing, which was good.   Out early this morning, and it was already steamy, high humidity.    Came in about an hour ago, heat index is 101...............I have had enough of the heat for the day.............going to go swimming and just relax until about 4, then going to check on our cat.......................sam. THEN, about 12 grandson informed me he had to leave for work in an hour. Fixed his lunch,packed his dinner then got a call daughters well had gone out. So left everything and Larry and I took off up there to help with that. They got that fixed so I pulled weeds around her flower beds while she took baby for it's shots. Came home, washed luncheon dishes, gathered in clothes, mopped kitchen took a shower and am relaxing before folding clothes and putting them away. Have to can beets tomorrow.
