Sam, Don & I are a lot like you & Jim seem to be. When Don was at work I did all of the lawn care except for the terrace & I wouldn't get near it. That & taking care of the cactus was all of the outside work he had to do. Now it is reversed, it all falls on him. We have had a good marriage but not all a bed of roses. Joyce, Dot Jo, I have heard of both of these.  Don't know if they work, but they both make sense..................seems the sprays and granules we are now using, isn't working that well, as the harsh chemicals that were once available, they became immune to.  Now, with less fighting defense think we are just stunning them.    Black ants are horrible this year.   We had a line of them this morning, from a tree , across our back deck, up the side of the house to our Hummingbird feeder that is on a shepard's pole in my flower garden.........Jim turned the water on, to activate the granules he put out yesterday.   They disappeared, but not sure if it killed them..........................can only hope.  Snakes, more this year than several seasons put together........YUK !    sam Joyce also I have heard to cover the tick with vaseline thus the tick can't breathe and will back out on it's own.  I want the thing off me as fast as possiable and don't take the time to do this.  LOL just grab the thing and pull it out!!!!!! know I shouldn't but I do. I told her I did, She thinks I 'm nuts, but I love it so..................she invited me up to work in her yards. lol.............told her I would help out in a flash if she wasn't able to but she has 2 strong boys staying with them, and I know they help out...........................When I was so ill, it almost killed me to watch all my hard work just go unchecked. Jim did what he could, but he never liked doing yard work........ He thinks all you have to do is mow....................and he did his best for the year I couldn't do it, then I finally hired someone to do my gardens, and the next day was the day the wild pigs came and pulled everything up in my freshly cleaned gardens. Run inside every few minutes to grab a load of clothes and put them on the line. Here I sit in the middle of the yard clipping away when up pulls this big white truck. Lady gets out and asks are you aunt Sallie's daughter? It was a first cousin I hadn't seen in about 40 years with her nephew whom I hadn't seen since he was tiny!!!! Sure was glad to see her we had a nice little visit in the middle of the road. Several members of her family had passed away and she didn't know, including my mom. THEN, about 12 grandson informed me he had to leave for work in an hour. Fixed his lunch,packed his dinner then got a call daughters well had gone out. So left everything and Larry and I took off up there to help with that. They got that fixed so I pulled weeds around her flower beds while she took baby for it's shots. Came home, washed luncheon dishes, gathered in clothes, mopped kitchen took a shower and am relaxing before folding clothes and putting them away. Have to can beets tomorrow. I went to the bathroom and when I pulled down my drawers, I noticed what I thought was a blood clot....Not I touched it an it moved...I yanked it off which I should not have. Lo and behold it was a TICK....Now I am going to be paranoid everytime I go outside. Gonna have to invest in bug spray. I have to keep an eye on the area to make sure I don't get a rash that looks like a bullseye. Don't know if I yanked it's head off. I don't see it on my belly....I put alcohol on the area and then put the tick on the kleenex and put it in a jar. I probably should call my doctor and see what he says... I have never seen a tick up here.
