    3. Well gals that makes 3 of us then. At least we are among friends that are in the same financial predicament. Don replaced the Megaton on our microwave today to the tune of $167.00 but it was cheaper than buying a new one. We have the commercial grade built-in one. I made a double batch of Banana Nut Bread today. It made 6 mini loaves & 4 cupcake size. I promised our grandson & wife that I would bring Banana Bread to the hospital when our new great granddaughter is born in 5 days. They both love & I love making it for my family. I told then that if they think I'm going to bring Banana Bread every time they have a kid that they could just forget it. 3. Marilyn, I planted the topsy turvy's tomatos late.   They do have several blooms..............Jim took all the things out of the top of one of them that the birds had put in for a nest.   Before he got some fine screen on them, they had already been busy, filling it up again.   Persistent little things..................If you find the name of the granules , let me know...........Jim put down some the other day,  I think that is what drove them all over the place.  I watered to re activate the granules, but they were faster than I was.  Jim got his good ole' ortho spray out, and they aren't as many, but they are not dead either...................yuk !   sam Sam, Our Topsy Turvey Tomatoes are doing great also.  We have 8 tomatoes on one of them & the others have blooms. I'm so in a hurry for home grown tomatoes & cucumbers & peppers. My niece brought us a batch of Snap Peas & 4 cucumbers. They sure were good. My cucumbers aren't doing so good.  I had one of the Topsy Turvy's with cucumbers & they died.  Don't have a clue as to what happened except that maybe Don kept it to wet. Don gets a granular stuff for ticks & chiggers at MFA & it really works good. I find out what it is & let you know.   Marilyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sam Loudermilk" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 19, 2009 7:22 AM Subject: Re: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Tick removal > Jenny, I didn't mean to say Walmarts. 3. Sam, Our Topsy Turvey Tomatoes are doing great also. Otherwise I think I am going to call an exterminator..............these are terrible.......................I noticed , this morning, in my topsy turvy, 2 birds are trying to build a nest in the top of one of them..................gosh, don't these critters, and insects ever give up ? lol.............going to have to put some screen on the tops of them to keep the birds out..............my tomatos are doing great in them............love ,sam. Ortho spray will kill them back some but not like this Grants stuff....You put a spike out every 15 feet around your house.....Haven't seen any since I put them out a couple of weeks ago.....Jenny ----- Original Message ----- From: Sam Loudermilk<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 19, 2009 12:55 AM Subject: Re: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Tick removal Jenny, all the granules, and sprays HAS NOT KILLED THE BLACK ANTS. I found something that works wonder on those black ants...It grants ant posin ...It's at k-marts...I had them going up my walls and all over my roses... got some and hardly ever see one now....Had them for several years before....I got the mole posin from wally world for my buffo frongs....That seem's to be working too.....Jenny Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: Sam Loudermilk<mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]%3Cmailto:[email protected]> > Sent: Wednesday, June 17, 2009 3:14 PM Subject: Re: [DOWN-HOME-CHATTER] Tick removal Joyce, Dot Jo, I have heard of both of these. Don't know if they work, but they both make sense..................seems the sprays and granules we are now using, isn't working that well, as the harsh chemicals that were once available, they became immune to. Now, with less fighting defense think we are just stunning them. Black ants are horrible this year. We had a line of them this morning, from a tree , across our back deck, up the side of the house to our Hummingbird feeder that is on a shepard's pole in my flower garden.........Jim turned the water on, to activate the granules he put out yesterday. They disappeared, but not sure if it killed them..........................can only hope. Snakes, more this year than several seasons put together........YUK ! sam Joyce also I have heard to cover the tick with vaseline thus the tick can't breathe and will back out on it's own. I want the thing off me as fast as possiable and don't take the time to do this. LOL just grab the thing and pull it out!!!!!! know I shouldn't but I do. I'm With Sam going out today and get something to spray the area with. I have black ants, ticks, spiders so need something powerful. Ticks seem to be real bad this year also snakes. All the wet Weather washing them out of their holes I guess!!!!!!
