Good morning to "DrDowell" and the list. In 1994 another TYDINGS descendant told me that Charity's maiden name was SPARROW, but the evidence, as you say, seems to be against this. A longtime SPARROW researcher in Baltimore has told me that my Charity was NOT a SPARROW. It's interesting that you have seen ADAMS and TALBOT "reported" as Charity's surname. Robert Barnes, a well-known Maryland researcher, has said that Charity's maiden name _may_ have been STONE, BAGBIE or ADAMS. Gibbs' "Supplement to early settlers of Maryland" says that Charity TYDINGS was "transported by 1682" by Richard TYDINGS of AA County. This suggests, to me, that Charity and Richard were married in England and we should be looking there for the marriage record. Just looked at www.familysearch.org and found no IGI or Ancestral File record for such a marriage. Three entries in the Pedigree Resource File, and one lists her as Charity RAMSEY. (All PRF submissions, like all Ancestral File submissions, are from individuals. No source given. I will write to the submitter to ask about this.) A search for "Richard TYDINGS" brings up a link to an interesting website by Fredric Z. SAUNDERS. He appears to have done substantial research in the original sources -- not "harvesting" from the Internet, which many of us have learned, to our sorrow, does not yield reliable results! Gibbs' "Supplement to early settlers of Maryland" database is online at the impressive Maryland State Archives site, http://mdsa.net. Cheers, Dolly Ziegler in Maryland
