If you are a descendant of Philip DOWELL, b. abt 1680 in Anne Arundel MD, be aware that while some researchers think he is a son of Nicholas DOWELL b. abt 1650 -- this is a shaky link. There may have been two Nicholases. In the will of Nicholas DOWELL made 1704 and probated 1705 in Cecil County, his legatees are wife Elizabeth, a godson, a cousin, and a nephew; no mention of children. All DOWELL researchers will be interested in any early mentions of Philip DOWELL -- in any part of Maryland!
