She married James Washington Owens between 1860 & 1865, his second marriage. I believe she was the mother of Jesse Edgar 1865, James Lafayette 1866, Muky Mailly 1868, Robert E. Lee 1869, Samuel Rufus 1870, & Minnie Florence 1871. Death certificates in Hunt County, Texas, for James L. and Minnie list Susan Dyer as their mother. Certificate for R. E. Owens lists her as Susan Dowell. All of the children were born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, except for Minnie Florence, who was born in Prentiss County, Mississippi.
