Julia died at Pagosa Springs, Archuleta co. Colorado in 1900 and was buried in Greenwood co. Kansas alongside of her husband, Manley (d.15 Oct 1888). Nellie Claudia Dowell married James W. Melrose at Pagosa Springs in 1890. James is the brother of my grandfather,Joseph M. Melrose. Nellie died sometime after 1902. She is supposed to be buried in the Dowell family plot in the I.O.O.F section ofHilltop cemetery but she is not listed there. Ada Dowell married Ben Turner in 1911 and lost her husband in the 1911 flood of Mill creek at Pagosa Springs. She later married Harry Horn in San Diego, CA.on Mar 6,1916., Some of her immediate family moved to San Diego in 1911. Jake C.Dowell also died in that flood in 1911. His obit says he had a wife, Winfred Harpst, and four children. an uncle, John C. Dowell, two aunts, Gertrude Dowell and Mrs. Gordon Grimes of Pagosa. Ada's brothers, Lloyd of Pagosa Springs, Lester and Maynard of San Diego, 1917. Looking for descendants of this early Dowell family that came to Archuleta county in 1884 from Eureka, Greenwood county, Kansas. Thanks to all for your replies. .
