    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hodgins, Mooney, Armitage, Ireland, Woolsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dowell/555.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I wonder if we have a connection. I have Ann HODGINS (b. abt. 1790, d. bef. 1833) m. 1811 John MOONEY, in the Diocese of Killaloe, Tipperary. They had daughters Frances (b 1812); Susan, Elizabeth & Mary. I also have ARMITAGES: Mary ARMITAGE b. about 1821 (or possibly 1814) in Tipperary, m. 1842 William IRELAND, d. 1875 in North Onslow, Pontiac, Quebec. (Their daughter Sarah Jane married a WOOLSEY). Family records differ as to Mary's father although they are from the Armitages that came from the Cloughjordan, Borrisokane area of Tipperary. Some records suggest her father was Francis "Big Ben" ARMITAGE (b. Newtown Mills, Tipperary; d. Canada 1839), another that it could be James of Torbolton, Ontario & still another that it was Richard. You can see that branch of my tree is a bit of a mystery. If these are your Armitages, I do have some information about them after they came to Canada. I would also love to find out who Ann Hodgins parents or siblings are. I did some work for a relative who also has a lot of Hodgins from Tipperary that wound up in Biddulph. I look forward to hearing if any of these names are familiar.
