I guess that I didn't clarify myself, Ray Eldred is my uncle, I was looking for Ray Eldred, Jr. I do have this picture of him while he was in the US Air Force in the pilot seat, that I would like to give to him or members of his family. My uncle Ray lived in New Albany, IN and I can not find Ray, Jr. listed there and was hoping that someone could help me find him also. I seem to have this problem that everytime that I find someone they have passed away! I hope that is not the case with him! Thank you so much! Cricket

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: DOWELL, PEASE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AST.2ACEB/426 Message Board Post: My great grandmother, Letitia DOWELL was born 7 Dec 1829 in Breckinridge County, KY, died 18 Apr 1895. Letitia married William Henry PEASE 26 June 1849, also in that county. I am told there is a marriage record, but I haven't found it. She and her husband are in the Breckinridge County 1850 census (her name is spelled Latitia in that document). Mary A. DOWELL (sister Mary Ann?) is in her household. Letitia would never talk about her parents, and her relatives remained a mystery until 1909 when Letitia's oldest son went to KY incongnito to discover his mother's secret. To his surprise he found the DOWELLs to be well thought of in the community, and after revealing his identity was welcomed into the homes of his mother's people. While no mention is made of Letitia's mother, it is fairly certain from the letters and charts he sent back, that Letitia's father was Nehemiah DOWELL (son of Micajah DOWELL and Frances MEADOR) who married his cousin Jane/Jincy DOWELL 1 Jan 1815. Nehemiah and Jane/Jincy had 9 children of record, beginning with (Benjamin) Harrison DOWELL born 1816 and ending with James Taylor DOWELL born 1837. I have been trying to establish that Jane/Jincy was my Letitia's mother, the latest information being that Letitia's birth is recorded in Benjamin Harrison DOWELL's bible. Does anyone know anything about this particular Letitia DOWELL, or have information concerning the whereabouts of Benjamin Harrison DOWELL's bible?

    3. John, I suspect that your line goes back to Philip Dowell in Anne Arundel County. His descendants had no respect for the county line between Calvert and Anne Arundel. Most of the Dowells in that area seem to have descended from him. Now for the fun part of trying to establish the linkages. 2. David R. Dowell
    3. Does anyone have information on the ancestry of Elizabeth Owen(s) who married Peter Dowell around 1748 in Maryland. It has been alleged that she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Owen(s). John Owen(s) is alleged to have been the son of John and Elizabeth (Spicer) Owen(s). Elizabeth may have been the daughter of Edward Spicer. My main problem with the descent is the very young age of the mothers when they reportedly gave birth. Twelve, eleven and even younger. Could happen but.......
