Both Anderson Dover and John Dover were in Cherokee County, Georgia in 1840. John Dover was in 1850 Randolph County, Alabama and then in Blount County, Alabama by 1858. Bailey Dover, John's son, was in 1850 Coosa County, Georgia and then in Blount County, Alabama by 1859, as was Bailey's sister Lucinda Dover Orr Bennett. Bailey's first born, Caroline Malinda Dover was born June 25, 1842. She married John Perry Phillips in Blount County, Alabama in 1866 shortly before Bailey's and John Perry's families moved to Harrisburg in Poinsett County, Arkansas by 1870. John Perry Phillips appears to be the son of Joseph Phillips born 1811 Union County, SC (wife Nancy BYRD) which is tucked in between York and Spartanburg. John first married Frances WARD in 1861 and had several children. When he married Caroline, S. B. DURHAM posted the bond and William BYRD performed the ceremony. The combination of these names connects two locations (as posted before) for a probable "acquaintance" between the family of William A. & Fidelia Dover and John Dover and his remaining family. One other thing going on in Blount County, Alabama .... William A. Dover and Bailey Dover, along with Lucinda put up property for sale on the same date, December 26, 1859. I suspect that Bailey and Lucinda were living very near William A. Dover. Did Anderson Dover know John Dover in Cherokee County, Georgia? Possibly so. Were they related? Don't know. John Dover had a John DURHAM living right next door to him in or near Canton, Georgia. I wonder if DURHAM in Cherokee County, Georgia is a connection in Blount County, Alabama? I notice that DURHAM is connected with William A. DOVER who was living next door to Joseph PHILLIPS. I also notice that Jesse Green mentions the DURHAM's in his 1912 autobiography and further that there is a DURHAM connection with the kids of Larkin Calloway Dover son of Anderson DOVER. Jesse GREEN's family was virtually next door to William A. Dover in Blount County, Alabama. Any of our Anderson DOVER descendants have DURHAM in their lines? Also throw out WALLS, which "could be" a WALLACE line that is reported as having connections with DOVER and CROSS and BASS. I have a WALLS connection mid 1870's in Arkansas. How about WITT? The PHILLIPS in Union County, South Carolina also appear to have connections in both Spartanburg and possibly York. There is an unconnected PHILLIPS in this area that has a MULLINAX marriage, same line as FJD's wife. Thomas CROSS, I think, was in Spartanburg before going to Pendleton. Dennis
