This is the last of the information I was able to get at the Bicentennial Library in Chattanooga. Wish there was more. Just didn't have the time. It is a "Gold Mine," of information. I could spend at least a month there and not run out of information. This is from microfiche. It is death records covering 1901 -1925 I believe it was. He died at Kelly's Ferry, Chattanooga,Hamilton Co., Tennessee. He had taken some jars down to the Ferry for the women folk who were picking berries on the other side of the Tennessee River. He died there at the Ferry on his wagon. He had a rattlesnake in the back of the wagon. I was not able to find out if it was kept for religious purposes or if it had gotten on the wagon unnoticed. He at first was thought to have maybe been bitten by the snake. There was not any evidence found of a snake bite, and the cause of death was determined to be a heart attack, which leads me to believe maybe the snake was not kept for religious purposes, and maybe scared him really bad. They did handle snakes in those days in that area as a part of their beliefs in some Protestant churches which is the type all of my Dovers were raised in as well as myself , although the granddaughter of his who told me this story does not remember him going to any church. She is 83 years old now, and a real sweetie. I had never met her before this trip. She was full of wonderful stories. It as a highlight of my trip. There were many wonderful highlights. I even met one of our list members, which was a treat, but missed three that I had really hoped to meet who could not make it. Maybe the next trip I will get to meet them.
