Thought I would let everyone know I am back among the computer living and back on the list. I had not dropped it, but had very limited time to do anything while traveling to NC. Thought I would let you all know of something interesting I ran across and had forgotten from my childhood here in the south. While looking for the siblings of my father, I ran across them listed as Davis in the cemetery records where they are buried. I had forgotten that as a child I would sometimes be called Davis and not Dover. It is easy to read as Davis in the older writing or writing that is not really clear. I found my father's sister whom I though I would never find listed as Willie Mae Dover, and not Nellie Mae Dover, and out of frustration looked up the death certificate for the Willie Mae. I just knew Nellie had to be there somewhere. I also found a child that I did not know about listed as the infant son of J.F. Dover, who was my grandfather. Both of these children died in 1917. Nellie from Typhoid fever and the infant was stillborn. There were also two more Dover descendants (children) from my line who died in 1916, so now I think I have the Typhoid Epidemic pinpointed in Chattanooga, which I had not been able to do before. I now have both of their death certificates, and they are buried right where I though they would be in Chattanooga. Since the cemetery had them listed as Davis and not Dover they could not find their records a year ago when I wrote them. Their graves are not marked, making it even harder to find records for them. The records they do have are not good ones, and since it has been so many years (82) they cannot even locate the exact place of their burial for me to place a marker for them. I did find much more Dover info, which I will post ASAP. Not nearly as much as I would like. Ran out of time. Crammed as much as I could into five days. I guess the moral of my story is, don't give up, if you have someone you are looking for. I thought I would never find Nellie Mae. Glad to be back, and look forward to posting my finds in case they will help someone out.
