Calma was a resident of Tacoma her entire life and a mother to 5 daughters. She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church, for which she served as organist for 57 years. She had been employed as a payroll officer at McChord Air Force Base and secretary for B & B Glass. Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were a daughter, Margo, her husband Peder, and by a sister, Pearl Bassett. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette (William) Jones; daughters JoAnn (Herb) Klippert, Nancy (Del) Anderson, Sandra (Richard) Hendry and Lynda (David) McCormick; 13 grandchildren, Debby (Ted) Christensen, Penny (John) Dover, Kris (Art) Burke, Herb Klippert Jr., Steven (Kim) Anderson, Todd (Nancy) Anderson, Greg (Tina) Anderson, Jennifer (Graham) Willie, David (Eldean) Baggenstos, Cathy Smith, Elizabeth (Jerry) Foss, David (Vicki) McCormick and Jeffrey (Debbie) McCormick. She leaves 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Monday, September 21, 1998, 10:30 AM at Mt. View Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church, So. 72nd and Puget Sound. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hope Lutheran Church.
