    1. [DOVER-L] Dover/Shaddix
    2. Dear Bobby, Thanks for your answer. Now I'm even more confused. You've added another "Mary" married to a Shaddix. David W. Dover and Sarah Sparks had one daughter "Mary", b. abt 1837 for whom I have never found a record of marriage, and one daughter "Missouri", b. abt 1845, whom I have assumed married a "Parker" although I cannot find a record of marriage for her either. However, I based my assumption that she is David's & Sarah's daughter since on the 1910 Census of Clay Co., AL, Union Precinct # 15, ED 53, Sheet 3A, Missouri E. Parker is listed as follows: Dwelling/family 40: 1. Parker, Missouri E, Head, age 63 (1847), widow, # yrs present marr 40, Mother of 1 child, 0 living, b. AL, father b. GA, mother b. SC (this IS the reverse of what David & Sarah POB is on other census), farmer. 2. Parker, Maggie G, dau-in-law, age 42, widow, 16 yrs present marriage, mother 4 children, 4 living, b. AL, father b. AL, mother b. SC, farm labor. 3. Parker, Missouri J.C. (she was always known as Catherine), granddaughter, age 16, b. AL, parents b. AL 4. Parker, Edgar W, Grandson, age 13, b. AL 5. Parker, George T, grandson, age 10, b. AL 6. Parker, John D, grandson, age 8, b. AL 7. DOVER, George W, nephew, age 26, single, b. AL, parents b. AL, farm labor. 1920 Census, Clay Co., AL, Union Precinct No 15, ED 54, sheet 3B & 4A: Dwelling 54, family 55 1. DOVER, George W, Head, age 36, married, farmer. 2. Masura J (should be Missouri - I guess the census taker couldn't spell), wife, age 25. 3. I. V., daughter, age 2 yrs 9 months 4. George D, son, age 1 month 5. Parker, Masura E (Missouri again), Aunt, age 74, widow, and this time gives AL as POB for herself & parents. (Census's are somewhat unreliable so far as POB's & ages are concerned.) NOW, George W. Dover is the son of John Abel Dover, my great grandpa, who is the son of David & Sarah Sparks Dover. That is why I've assumed that Missouri Dover married a Parker. George Dover's mother was Martha Emily Shaddix (dau of Robert and Sarah Walden Shaddix), and I cannot find a Missouri in the Shaddix side of the family who could be George Dover's aunt. It seems that Rosemary, and perhaps others too, have her marrying William B. Shaddix. Your message has David's sister, Mary, marrying William B. Shaddix. In the Clay Co. Heritage Book page 208, under an article "Shadix (Shaddix) Family " (Robert Shaddix and Sarah Walden's descendants) the writer Doyce T. Shaddix has Missouri "Mary" Dover (Robertson) marrying William Marion Shaddix on 9 - 13 1866. The record of marriage I found in another book on Clay Co Marriages gives only Mary E. Robertson m. W. M. Shaddix 9-13-1866 at residence of Wm Robertson, James A. Shaddix, MG. I assume her maiden name was Robertson, although Betty Shaddix Lewis believes that Mary Dover had married a Robertson prior to W.M. Shaddix. NOW, can anyone straighten me out on this? By the way does anyone know who are parents of William B. Shaddix? William M. is Robert and Sarah Shaddix's son. Has anyone found actual record of marriage for Missouri, and for Mary Dover?
