    1. [DOVER-L] Anderson County, South Carolina
    2. Dennis Dover
    3. This is a reference as a followup to the message about Carroll County, Georgia. I've looked at the census film and don't have a strong sense that Hugh is a Dover. Samuel G. Dover in 1850 Carroll County, Georgia would fit as a possible son to the following John in Anderson Co. and this John does seem to fit the John in Carroll County, Georgia. So what does this say for David Dover in Carroll County, Georgia? David misses an age group in the 1830 Anderson County census, yet he was probably young enough to still be at home with his parents in 1830. He was born 1814 SC (consistent in his censuses) so he would have been 16 years old in 1830. Doesn't seem to fit in the York families except for possibly Hezekiah who had seven sons in 1830. Could fit as a son of either of the John Dover's in 1820 Buncombe County, North Carolina and also the elder John Dover in the 1830 Buncombe census. Bobby (SGM Rock) Dover has a faint story in his family ... he hasn't said it on the list so I will :-) because I think it's a very important clue. The family lore is that David was one of seven sons from the Carolina's (NC/SC or vice versa).... and possibly the last of seven sons. I'd have to rule out Hezekiah altogether because I think Hezekiah had more than seven sons. Several researchers back in the 70's, one related to the John Dover in Carroll County, speculated together that the John Dover in Carroll County, Georgia came from Anderson County, South Carolina and that he might be a son of Joshua Dover (b 1753). Josh was in Greenville District, SC in 1790. 1830 Anderson M19-173 Page 122 Hugh Dover 30-40 1790-1800 001001-00001 Female 20-30 1800-1810 Male 10-15 1815-1820 Page 175 John Dover 40-50 1780-1790 2010001-111001 Female 30-40 1790-1800 Male 10-15 1815-1820 Female 10-15 1815-1820 Female 05-10 1820-1825 Male -5 1825-1830 Male -5 1825-1830 Female -5 1825-1830
