Pension records show he was at home on wounded furlough close of war. (Born Feb. 1846) Dover, Dillen-Private Mch 4, 1862. Appointed 2d Corporal April 1864. Roll dated hdqrs. 60th Regt.Ga. Inf. Mar 29, 1865. shows him absent. Dover, D.H. -Private Mch. 4, 1862. Wounded, left arm permanently dsabled at Winchester, Va. July 27, 1864. He is the son of Mary Jane Hamilton b. 1/7/1833 and William Anderson Greer b. 9/26/1831 >From HISTORY OF GWINNETT COUNTY GEORGIA 1818-1943 VOL.I PG.144-145 In reference to the removal of the Cherokees in 1838, "Hardy Dover," is listed as one of the privates involved in this. pg. 147, After the Cherokee were moved out of Georgia and the erritory north of the Chattahoochee River was surveyed and distributed by lottery, and the following citizens of Gwinnett Conty drew lots in this territory, the lot drawn, the name of the drawer, and the district in Gwinnett County where he lived being given: pg. 153 "1143, Hardy Youngblood's orphans, 406: 1840 Gwinnett Co. Census Samuel Dover- 1 male 5-10 1 male 30-40 1 female 5-10 1 female 20-30 [This would not be the same Samuel who appears in 1850!] 1850 Gwinnett Co. Census 793 William Dover 25 M.
