Here's a whole new twist on the spelling of a possible DOVER family. Sounds French. Follow down till you get to Hiram JAY in 1840. Then look at Hiram JAY below that in 1850 Abbeyville County, South Carolina which is next door to Edgefield County (census page numbers follow the names). Where did these people go? I did look at the census showing Michey DOVER and I recall is shows DOVER. Whether I like it or not, I'm sure there are other surnames in these two counties that would surprise many of us on the list ... HARDIN, POSEY, SAVAGE, CLOUD (many), MOSS. PARTAN is a connecting family (somehow). The HARDIN is an Elijah who appears to be a neighbor in 1850 Tallapoosa County, Alabama who several think came from the Hardin bunch in Lincoln/Rutherford .... Elijah was born 1775. 1790 Edgefield District, South Carolina DEVOIR, Jacob 01 03 04 00 00 62 DEVOIR, Matthew Jun. 02 05 06 00 00 62 DEVOIR, Matthew Sen. 01 00 02 00 00 62 1800 Edgefield District, South Carolina DEVAUL, Betsey 10101-11210-00 149 DEVORE, John 00100-00100-01 149 DEVAUL, Samuel 00100-00100-02 154 1810 Edgefield District, South Carolina 1810 Edgefield County M252-61 Page 79 William Dover 16-26 1784-1794 11100-00201 Female 45+ -1765 Male 16-26 1784-1794 Female 16-26 1784-1794 Female 16-26 1784-1794 Male 10-16 1794-1800 Male -10 1800-1810 DOUER, Thomas 43 DEVOAR, Elisabeth 66 DEVOAR, Jonithan 67 DEVORE, Rebeckah 67 DEVORE, Peggy 72 DOVER, William 79 DEVAUN, William 80 1811 Edgefield District, South Carolina DEVORE, Elijah .
