Hi Dennis, and everyone! I just got home, and I have to say I found all kinds of information, but I am now more confused than ever:) I am spelling it as the census taker did. The family before them has Mis Mis Mis and the " " " follow on down most the page:( 1880 census 10th & 14th June page 18 District 83 Paris Dallas 157-160 Dover T.J. White male 55 Labor on farm born " " " Mirandy F 45 wife Keeping house " " " William M 19 son at home " " " Bordelia F 9 Daughter " " " Joe M 5 son " " " 1870 census has alot of mistakes, at least I think they are mistakes. I was told if the people where not home the census taker would get the information from the next household, so That might explain this! Note the name Harvey. I am not sure, but I was told at the reunion Jeff came from Al with a Harvey Dover, they could of just confused him with there son. This is the only time Harvey shows up Dover J. P. 32 Male, Farmer, pres prop 200 acres, Birth AL M 29 F H.K Ms E. 12 M at home Ms Wm 9 M Ms Harvey 5 M Ms I looked at the Mic film, but the printer was broken, so I copied the 1870 census out of a book, and it matches the mic film Two houses down is John Clearey, he witnessed Jeff and Meranzia marriage bond in 1857. If Elisha was 12 at the time he would of showed up in the 1860 census and he does not. But I do have pictures of him, and Cordelia:) 1860 census Jeff Dover 35 Male Labor ALA Moranzie 24 F ALA eight houses down is A.J. Mottox 40 m Farmer 600/300 Ala Lucinda 29 ALA Sarah 10 ALA Roxana 8 MISS Mary 6 MISS Leah 5 Miss Leleta 4 Miss Namce 2 Miss James 3/12 Miss Lenora RICE 18 GA Dallas Cemetery Jeff, Meranzia, and Harvey are not marked. I am going to assume that Harvey is the son listed in the 1870 census, he does not show up in the 1880 and going by age he would of been 15 and still at home.. The only 3 unmarked graves in a row are next to Sarah E Phillips. I did not find the graves!!!!!! The OLD WHITE OAK TREE ( the only one in the area) that they are buried next too has fallen and is laying over them I believe, this information is coming from someone who walked the grave yard in 1978 and wrote everything down. There is also a I.M. Dover died 10-31-1955 age 69 (funeral home marker) I did not find this either:( Dallas is unkept and the weeds are abt a foot high, so it was hard to walk through.) Note, Jeff's age 1860 35 and 1880 55. He could of been born 1825 I want to mention, that I am sure, that some of the Davis are Dovers, I found Jeff on the 1870 census, mic film, and the E is dotted. Cordelia is found as a Daves, but that was the transcribers fault, I looked at the Mic film and it does look like Daves.
