    1. [DOVER-L] Blount Co., AL
    2. Some PHILLIPS info from both Terry and a new cousin is fascinating. In part because people in that information are found at two different locations with DOVER families at both locations in Blount County, Alabama. I think of these locations as John DOVER's property just west of Snead Crossroads and east of there near the Byrd Cemetery. I'm guessing 5-6 miles on the present day main road. The census indexes on CD for 1860 Blount are missing names. One of importance is H. H. GREEN two doors from William & Fidelia DOVER. This connects with the Jesse GREEN autobiography posted several months ago. Henry Green and William Dover are brothers-in-law from William Green and Anderson Dover from Cherokee County, Georgia. William Green's wife was Hannah Dover brother to William A. Dover and children of Anderson and Jane CROSS DOVER. John Perry PHILLIPS who married Bailey's daughter Caroline Malinda DOVER should pop up on the 1860 census with or next to his father Joseph PHILLIPS and William A. DOVER. This suggests that this PHILLIPS family knew both Dover families as is supported by the probable first marriage record of John Perry PHILLIPS. While John DOVER and Bailey DOVER cannot be found in any 1860 census, they were property owners in these same specific areas about 5-6 miles apart. Both John DOVER and Anderson DOVER were in 1840 Cherokee County, Georgia. Interesting that Joseph PHILLIPS in Blount County is supposed to have a brother Isaac Phillips in 1840 Forsyth County, Georgia. That Isaac PHILLIPS was a neighbor of Jesse PONDER who was in York, whose brother and probable father were in Buncombe County, NC and has a DOVER grandson married to a Malinda DOVER whose father was a Baptist preacher and who lived (Jesse) in Habersham County, Georgia. This same PONDER/DOVER line has a PIERSON/PEARSON connection from Lincoln County, NC and a reference in the PONDER family history to an older DOVER during the battle of Kings Mountain during the Revolution. These same PONDER descendants were in Randolph Co., Talladega Co. and Winston Co., Alabama. This PHILLIPS line in Blount County is supposed to have come from Union County, South Carolina which is right next door to York and Spartanburg.
