List of Taxables in Rowan Cty, 1768, John Dover - 1. (I'm not sure what the 1 stood for, but in looking at the other listings it's the # of taxables, which I kind of surmise to be males over a certain age. Anyone got any clearer ideas?) Source: North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal vol 9, page 211 North Carolina Militia Paroled by Lord Cornwallis in 1781 - from Rowan Cty, John Doverbush Source: North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal vol 4, page 148 I am kind of thinking this is really John Dover. I know he (or some Johns) were in that area at that time. Since he was captured and then paroled he may have given a fictious name. Randy Dover Chattanooga, TN Son of Dale H.
