This is for Malindy too. Here's the letter that Charles Dover Ancell was referring to .... Marcus Dover was the grandson of Augustus M. DOVER, son of Francis Marion & Mary Bailey Dover. Think Ky is Hezekiah ... I do. I have a second letter written by Elmer Dover that contains references to his Dover's in New York. I think Charles Dover Ancell has a website if you're interested. Marcus Dover 1939 Letter This is a transcription of a typewritten letter received from the files of the John Randolph Dover family. Louisville, Kentucky, Oct. 18, 1939. Mr. Elmer Dover, 5941 Cote Brilliante Ave. St Louis, Mo. Dear Sir :- I was very much interested in receiving your letter and would be glad indeed if we together could patch up the tree of the Dover family and would like to get a copy of your History of it when completed. I am a son of Louis L. Dover who was born in Pickens Co. Georgia, Feb. 3, 1866, my grandfather was Augustus McDowell Dover, I do not know the date or place of his birth but think he was born in East Georgia or Vir. My Great grand father was born in England. My father (Louis L. Dover) died at Acworth, Georgia last Dec. 15, 1938, and was buried with his father and grand father and I do not remember whether my grand father was Ky Dover or Stephen Dover or (Steve) as they called him, either Ky or Steven Dover was my grandfathers brother and died some where in Mo. I think at Poplar Bluff, I do not know the date. * (Six months) About * prior to my father's death he gave me some notes including the above which I have misplaced and am quoting from vague memory but will try to locate and give you more information later if possible. I regret that I am not in possession of any information regarding the members of the family you mention. I have been estranged from my family since age 15, my mother passed when I was five and I just grew up as did Topsy the stray pup and came to Louisville in the year 1910 and had little contact with my family until my father nearing the end called for me and I went to see him in February last year. I am a traveling salesman and have recently made a change in my connections which accounts for my inability at this time to collect both the family data that I should have and my own faculties. However, at the earliest opportunity I shall try to gather more information and if successful will gladly communicate it to you. Hoping that we may yet be able to trace more accurately the family tree and that you will be able to secure the necessary data to admit you to the Sons of the Revolution, I am, Your Cousin, Marcus A. Dover 3640 Longview Ave. Louisville, Ky. P. S. Several years ago or about 1935 I received a card from "Fudge & Co. Ltd. 94 York Road, London, S.E. England suggesting that I order a copy of the Summer 1935 number of "The Genealogical Quarterly" which contained information regarding the Dover family, price $1.50, I regret that I did not order this.
