Hi, I am forwarding this message for Dennis -----------start---------- Patricia, Please forward this message for me to DOVER-L: My John Dover's daughter Lucinda was married to a Cooper BENNETT. John and Lucinda were in Randolph County, Alabama in 1850. Next door to John Dover was Joel M. & Laurany BENNETT. Joel was born 1820 SC. Just discovered that Joel & Laurany were married in Cherokee County, Georgia in 1843. Cooper & Lucinda Dover BENNETT were in 1860 Cherokee County, Alabama in 1860 on the same census page with several BENNETT families .... Joel M., Martha, W. J. and William BENNETT. Along with my FIELDING connections in Cherokee County, Georgia, this BENNETT connection appears to confirm that my John DOVER was in Cherokee County, Georgia in 1840. The BENNETT families in "this line" have some proof and naming patterns that point them back to 1790 Greenville District of South Carolina very near Joshua DOVER. This BENNETT family appears in part to be in the Pendleton District of South Carolina in 1790 and 1800. Some of them are in Hall County, Georgia by 1820 and some went to Forsyth Co., GA and Cherokee Co., GA. I'm NOT saying my John is a descendant of Joshua DOVER. My John's father was born as late as about 1768. I still suspect my John's father is another John which makes even old Joshua a little young to be that John's father. Problem is that the best I can say now is that my John Dover was in Cherokee County, Georgia in 1840 (1836 by deed record). That means that John had some children I have no clue about, including a son in Bailey's age group (1815-1819)if John was in Buncombe County, NC in 1830.
