Just a little bit of information might be available on one of the children listed below if someone on the list has access to the Chattanooga Bicentennial Library. There is an obituary for a Lillie M. Dover in their newspaper obituary records. I know, because when I was looking for some information I ran across the name and it caught my eye. My Granny was Lillie Mae Kirksey Dover, so it stood out to me to see the name Lillie M. Dover. The information I was able to get on line was: Name ENSLEY, LILLIE MAE DOVER (MRS. BILL) Date NOV. 16 1969 Newspaper TIMES Hope this helps. I hope to get to the library on the way back to N.C. this summer and look up many of the Dover obits this library holds. I may not get to do too many though. There are 82 listed on line they have at the library in the archives of the old papers. If anyone is interested I have them all and can send them via e-mail. Just let me know if you are interested and I will be happy to send them or post them to the list if anyone would like. In this particular family, Mary Whittice had the Indian connection. If you haven't seen these records, they are quite interesting and informative and contain lots of genealogical data. The two pages that I have give no ages for the ones that you have listed. Under where they are supposed to list children of their grandparents it has: John Dover died many years ago Felix Dover died in war time Martin Dover died 13 years ago Wiilliam W Whitice died in 1897 Robert D Whitice Los Angeles, Cal In another place where grandparents are listed, it say the Dovers were b. in York Dist., SC. From what I'm looking at I'm at a loss to explain the dates and places as described in the IGI records. The other page has a list of "your brothers and sisters" and gives: Lula V Trimby Alice Dover Lillie M Dover their dates of birth are also listed. George L Dover John E Dover Raymond A Dover Known kids not on that list are Adolph C Dover and William E Dover, so I would say one of the two filed the claim that I'm looking at. >From the Index I have: Appl. #20562-18184 - Mary T Dover "My name is Mary T Dover. I live at 1600 McCullugh Ave. I claim through my mother, who was Miss Eliza A Reed, she married W A Whittice. My grandfather on my mother's side was a part Cherokee Indian. My grandfather lived in Stokes Co, NC. He was living in Stokes Co in 1834-35 to the best of my knowledge. My mother was recognized as white woman. My grandfather on my mother's side was recognized as an Indian, Cherokee Indian, descendant of the Cherokees. My grandfather did not live with the Cherokee tribe, but lived in the vacinity. I got my information from my mother. My mother never lived with the tribe. My mother was about twenty years old when I was born. I was born in 1846. If my mother was ever enrolled, I never knew it. My mother was dead in 1882. I was living in Duckville, TN in 1882. I was never enrolled. I have no other source of information to the effect that I have Eastern Cherokee blood except that my mother told me. As far as I know my mother's father was not living with the tribe at the time of my mother's birth. My niece, Mary D Davidson claims through the same source that I do." Signed: Mary T Dover, Chattanooga, TN, Jun 18, 1908 Dennis, do you have any more of the Whittice claim than just the two pages?
