Herald (Rock Hill, South Carolina), Obituaries, 1991-1999 Source: Ancestry Database Vetter Deitz CLOVER - Mrs. Vetter Black Deitz, 89, of 1176 Faulkner Road, died Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at Piedmont Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phil Lemons officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Born in Gaston County, N.C., Mrs. Deitz was a charter member of Clover Church of the Nazarene. She was the widow of George W. Deitz. Surviving are her son, Baxter Deitz of Clover; four daughters, Shirley Hullett, Eunice Gordon and Susie Dover, all of Clover, and Carolyn Hines of York; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Clover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 214, Clover, SC 29710. ============= Palmer Dover HICKORY GROVE - Mr. Palmer Emitt Dover, 70, of 1890 Martin Road, died Monday, Jan. 1, 1996, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Blacksburg. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Broad River Baptist Church in Smyrna, with the Revs. Jim King, Dean Painter and Ken Covington officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Born in York County, Mr. Dover was retired from the cloth room at Cherokee Finishing. He attended Broad River Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Vergie Peterson Dover; three sons, Stanley Dover of Gaffney, Kenneth Dover and Andy Dover, both of Hickory Grove; two brothers, Finley Dover of Hickory Grove and Jimmy Dover of Clover; two sisters, Bessie Dover and Susie Weaver, both of Clover; and nine grandchildren. The body will lie in state this afternoon at the home of his son, Kenneth Dover, 1788 Martin Road, Hickory Grove. Gordon Mortuary of Blacksburg is in charge. Charles Challenger CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Charles B. Challenger, 77, of 815 Pleasant Grove Road, who died Friday, Dec. 29,1995, at his home, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with James Rouse delivering the discourse. Burial will be at Benson Cemetery. Mr. Challenger was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Chester. He was a retired custodian. Surviving are his wife, Clara Thompson Challenger; two sons, Ormando Challenger of Cassopolis, Mich., and Paul Challenger of Chester; three daughters, Lenora Challenger of the home, Claudia Rouse of Chester and Shirley Febin of Linkoping, Sweden; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home. The body will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday. Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.
