BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ A 79-year-old woman was knocked down, bitten and clawed by a rabid fox but managed to grab the crazed animal and clutch it for 12 hours until her landlord came by and beat it to death with a stick. ``Either she knew what she was doing or she got lucky,'' sheriff's officer Cathy Lee said. Lucy Dover was hospitalized in serious condition and will need rabies shots. Ms. Dover told authorities she was attacked Monday night when she went outside her mobile home to smoke a cigarette. The 15-pound fox knocked her to the ground, breaking her hip. She said she seized the animal behind the neck and near the tail and held it until her landlord happened to come by in the morning. -- Patricia Manson Dover listmanager http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Dover Alabama listmanager http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Sponsor/AlabamaList My Home page http://www.myfreeoffice.com/treeshaker/
