    3. Thank You for responding to my post! Its great to know you are out there. I have an article from the Belmont County History 1988. In 1799, Philip Dover purchased land in Pultney Township, Belmont County. He was later appointed one of the first constables of that township. Both Philip and his wife, Margaret, died before 1830. Record is found of there ten children.Sons Isaac, Abraham, John, and perhaps Jacob were living in Kentucky when a suit was filed by the heirs of Philip Dover. Four daughters had been married: Hannah to John Finley, Sarah to Nathaniel Ayres, Rebecca to John Davis, Lydia, then deceased, to Adam Long. Lydia left three children, Philip, Abraham and Lorenzo. Daniel and Hiram purchased properties in Morgan and Muskingum counties before1839. Hiram born 1805 married Emily Flagg, was admitted to Morgan County Medical Society, and sold goods and sundries. Hiram Died 1850. The History of his descendants, Particularly a son, Thomas Philip and Grandsons Fred and John is well documented in Morgan County. Daniel was born in 1802. He married Mary Patterson b June 17 1804 on July 11 1822. They raised family of ten children in southern Muskingum County. Daniel , a farmer, then sold his land , which yielded both coal an oil, and moved to Taylorsville (Philo). The couple resided on Market St. until their deaths in January 1881. Their children sold reaming lots which Daniel had purchased, and only Abraham stayed on, He was buried in Duncan Falls cemetery near his parents and sister Ida who died at age 11. Abraham was 74 in1908 when he went to Zanesville on a river boat, valley gem, to visit his daughter, Hattie Knox. After a Pleasant evening, he became Ill and died of Heart Failure. Daniel's other children were : Hannibal, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Lemuel G.< Theodore W.,Caroline, Daniel W. and John Wesley. Theodore followed the Example of his Grandfather Philip who came from to POhio from Pennsylvania: his Uncles who went to Kentucky: and his father who moved to Muskingum County in search of profit from the land: by moving to Marshall County, Kansas. After the deaths ofDaniel and Mary, Lemaul, his wife Catharine B Jackson, and six children went to Kansas. It is not known how long the family remained in the west. One of the daughters Elizabeth Jane is the Grandmother to the writer of this story. She told of the harshness of life on the Prairie, the sandstorms, and runnied crops which caused the family to long for the green hills of Ohio. Lizzie taught school in Kansas and had a suitor who was anxious to marry her. She rejected his proposal and returned to Zanessville with her family, where she worked in the pottery. One Sunday, Lizzie and a friend took a picnic lunch and went with other young people on an excursion to Marrietta on the Valley of the Gem. On the trip she became interested in a Young man. The girlfriend was happy to Introduce her brother Charles Francis Kirby. The couple married in 1894 and had six children. Their children and Grandchildren are some of the many descendants of Philip Dover living in Muskingum County Today.
