Barbara Matilda Goodson, eighth child of this family, born August 15, 1845, died March 21, 1925, married her first cousin, John Goodson (1841-1921), son of Larkin Goodson and Elizabeth Dover, on September 30, 1864. They are buried in Cherokee County, TX. Their children were: William N., Ludy M., Jacob Watson, Martha A., George Gillum, Buddie, John Larkin, Darsie, Joe, and Jennie Nevada. Jacob Goodson was the brother of my ggg grandmother Anna Goodson who md Elijah Benson Dover b 1817 SC. Jacob's wife was Barbara Whisenant from Hab Co, GA. Larkin Goodson was another brother who md Elizabeth Dover d/o William Simpson Dover / Lucy Alice Dooly. Larkin & Elizabeth's son John Larkin Goodson is the one who md Barbara Matilda Goodson. Barbara (Whisenant) Goodson had a brother George Whisenant who md Malinda Cross d/o Thomas Cross / Rebecca Dover. John Alexander Goodson, also a brother of Jacob, Anna & Larkin Goodson, md Elizabeth Dooly. Elizabeth (Dooly) Goodson and Lucy Alice (Dooly) Dover, Wm Simpson Dover's wife, were sisters. William Goodson was another brother who md Sarah (Thompson?) and had a dau named Mary Matilda Goodson who md Jarrett Nelson Dover in Hab Co, GA. It is my believe that Elijah Benson Dover and Jarrett Nelson Dover were brothers and the sons of Johnson Dover / Hulda Cross. Johnson Dover is a documented s/o Francis J Dover. Johnson Dover & Wm Simpson Dover were brothers and Rebecca (Dover) Cross was their sister. Thomas Cross and Hulda (Cross) Dover were siblings. These families were so intermarried that I don't think there is any way that they could've kept all the relationships straight.
