http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/surnames.moss/24.33 (May 2003) (Edwina Ard) I know this message was posted very long ago, but I have found in the 1860 census of York Co., SC, New House Division, household # 30, the family of John and Louisa Moss having children Pinkney, D.N., Henry, Surphiemia, John and Robert E. (age 9 months-born 1859-60). In household #31 is the family of Zephaniah and Allaia Dover. I think this may be the family you are looking for, but there were several Moss families in York Co., SC. I also have an interest in this family as I think D.N. may actually be A.N. (Alexander Nance Moss). Alexander Nance was in AR by 1875 and was a carpenter known for his trim work. Quite a coincidence when you consider the Zephaniah Dover was listed on the census as a master carpenter.
