Marjorie, I think there may be a problem with this 20 Jul 1814 date here. Habersham Co wasn't formed until 1817 from land ceded by the Indians and was organized and named in 1818.. Unfortunately I couldn't see the actual deed to check it out. This info came from the grantee deed index, and it looked to me like 1814 (it was a microfilm). It might turn out to be 1819, but won't know until someone checks the actual deed in Habersham since the Archives didn't have this set of books. It looked like this was an attempt to "fix" something pertaining to the seizure, and may have something to do with how Thomas Cross got his land back.
