From the Walker County Heritage Book, submitted by Mrs. U.F. Thurman: "Elisha D. Atkins was born March 14, 1845 and died April 20, 1914. In February 1867 (Actually, he married her in Bartow County, Georgia on September 05, 1867) he married Martha Dover, who was born March 25, 1848 and died November 5, 1922. Elisha and Martha's third child, James Marvin Atkins, born January 20, 1870, married Victoria Hewett on July 13, 1890. She was born in 1864 and died May 15, 1918. James and Victoria had three children: C. Riley born November 19, 1892; Ollie born September 24, 1894; William R. born June 13, 1897. William R. Atkins first married (1917) Jannie Cooper. They had one child, Fredrick, born March 22, 1918. Jannie died in 1918. William R. remarried June 22, 1922, Etta Ruth Catlett. Etta, born July 2, 1902, was the eighth child of John Monroe Catlett (born May 21, 1864) and Narcissus J. Loveless (born May 19, 1871). John and Narcissus married September 6, 1885. William R. and Etta had ten children: (1) Charles, born March 1924 and died December 17, 1925; (2) Irene Anniebell, born May 24, 1926 (see David Franklin Thurman); (3) William Raymond, born August 28, 1928; (4) Harold Wesley, born April 4, 1931; (5) Vivian Marie, born November 1933, died May 1934; (6) Rosetta Louise, born April 25, 1935, died May 11, 1936; (7) Robert Leon, born June 16, 1937; (8) Lester Virgil, born July 29, 1938; (9) Annie Ruth, born December 19, 1943; (10) infant son, born and died May 1945.
