    3. My gggrandfather,Thomas Jefferson Dover, married my gggrandmother,Meranzia Hayes, in Ponotoc Co. Mississippi In 1857. Family legend is that before he moved to Layfayette Co. Mississippi in the 1850s he lived in Tallapoosa Co. Al. and was married To Mariam S.E. Barnett. Could this be the same line? -----Original Message----- From: Dennis Dover [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 5:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Dover] Death Certificate of John Dover-Shelby County, AL It's John Dover from census who I suspect was a grandson of Lawson & Mary Dover. The informant was probably Havis Dover (see notes after census). There's a census age problem in 1870. To admit how confused I am on the 1860 census, I have always wondered if Monroe was James Monroe. Check his age and the marriage records. Buy lunch or send flowers for anyone who finds a living male descendant ... that will take the DNA test. John Dover. I cannot make out for sure the first name on the certificate. It may simply say Mr. John Dover. The best I can tell this one should be indexed as this in the records Terry sent to the list a while back. This is a very hard document to read so there is a LOT of room for error. If anyone can provide more on who this is and their line I would really appreciate it. 3. Mike, this could be the same line. There are 25 marker DNA results from TJ's line from one person (Larry) that already connects perfectly with the Dover's in the Habersham County, Georgia and Buncombe County, North Carolina in the same 1830 census year. There is hope among a couple of us who know a Dover living in Arkansas that he will take the DNA test in a couple of months. He's almost certainly a descendant of a son of Lawson & Mary Dover that was living in Paris, Lafayette Co., MS in the 1860 census before going to Arkansas. Also in Banner, Calhoun County, Mississippi (1860 census) was the married daughter of Lawson & Mary Dover. Paris and Banner are 7.5 miles from each other. One DNA test from a family line has been just great so far but more than one test from the same line is very important. The president/founder of Family Tree DNA is off by one mutant in one marker with his own father (they are still DNA matches) yet he matches exactly in all markers with other family members. The important thing I think to understand about the DNA results so far is that some of us do match (are kin) even though we are off by one or two mutants in one marker. It's possible that the DNA marker "slip" occurred down the line meaning that ALL of us still related in one group could have matched up perfectly earlier. Any chance you would consider taking the DNA test? Larry from your line is off by one mutant in one marker with me. What if you and I matched perfectly and you are off by one mutant in one marker with Larry? I'm hoping someone from my line can be added to the tests .... maybe we are off by one mutant which could mean that they are a perfect match with others who are already perfect matches and "still" off by one mutant with me. -----Original Message----- From: Mike Dover [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 24, 2004 5:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Dover] Death Certificate of John Dover-Shelby County, AL My gggrandfather,Thomas Jefferson Dover, married my gggrandmother,Meranzia Hayes, in Ponotoc Co.
