I received an email this morning from a friend and thought I would share with everyone. It was also reported through religious media. All of us lost a special relative, one who was doing God's work in an area most of us fear. Please read below; Hi, Just wanted to let all of you know that Jean Dover Elliott and her husband, Larry, who were missionaries were killed in Iraq on Monday of this week. I know that she has a sister, Nancy Dover Ellis (husband, Buford) who live in Shelby now. Her parents were Robert and Irene Dover of Shelby. She also had a brother, Bill Dover. I am not sure if there were other siblings or not. I know she is connected to my line of Dovers in some way but not sure exactly how. I know that when our Dover-Thornburg reunions were held in Cleveland County that these people were on our mailing list as I was in charge of the reunions at that time. If any of you know what line her Dad, Robert, is from please let me know. I think maybe her grandfather might have been my grandfathers half-brother. Thanks, Hugh O. This has been all over the news here the last few days. I did not catch the Dover name but my husband just told me he did. I will see what I can find in the local papers and post it. If I remember the little I had the time to pay attention to they said they were from Shelby. It always makes me cringe when I hear of the deaths over there. Until just recently my nephew was over there as well. He is on leave now and I hope does not have to go back. It is a hard world we live in these days. I will have to look but I think Shelby is NC.
