    3. More coincidences maybe? They are tough. A couple I've watched for years had become near fact, but these DNA tests in some cases are going in some different directions. Thomas J. Dover married Miriam S. E. Burnett, July 23, 1850 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. The only adult Dover family living in Tallapoosa County at the time was Lawson & Mary Dover. That census was enumerated October 28, 1850, three months after the marriage. Lawson was born 1799/1800 SC and is connected with a CROSS family. Lawson also shows up in a Habersham County, Georgia deed in 1826. I have always thought that Thomas J. Dover should be Lawson's son. He was born 1824/25 AL/GA. One of the DNA test results for one of Thomas J. Dover's descendants, Larry Dover, came out the other day too. This is our Dover-L list manager, Patricia Manson's Dover family, who Larry matches perfectly with all those who have perfect matches with Francis J. Dover. There is one known living male descendant of Lawson Dover that Sharon S. and I have contacted. He will take the DNA test, but probably not until late next spring. Besides Larry's results, those results will be amazing if the two match. Elijah Benson Dover's descendant's tests came out the other day too. EB is Sharon S's connection. No surprise there, he matches perfectly with Francis J. Dover. A coincidence that Elijah Benson was living next door to the widow of Wilson Dover in 1880 Arkansas. Wilson is the son of Lawson and Mary Dover and he shows up in the 1850 Tallapoosa Co., AL census. It is this descendant who will be taking the DNA test next year. There's more to go with this if they are connected because Wilson was in Lafayette County, Mississippi in 1860 and was living about five miles from his sister Jane Ann Dover married to Daniel Levi Volentine Green. Just to confuse this a little more about coincidences that have no answer yet, Lawson Dover's property in Habersham was very close to the Rabun County border and a lot closer to the property owned by Bailey Dover the elder than he was to Francis, Johnson or Anderson Dover near Deep Creek. -----Original Message----- From: Terry Jackson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, December 28, 2003 9:37 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Dover] DOVER and GREEN Robert, I have to say I agree wholeheartedly. Given the time frame & modes of transportation at the time, it was nearly unheard of for there not to be some sort of relationship between surnames in an area.
