I have the following notes for James and his family: James owned land at 1SW 33/11S 8E, N. Huntsville Meridian, 160.88 (Etowah County, AL) In Etowah County, AL marriages: James H. Dover and Mrs. M. E. Powell, September 18, 1887 In 1900, James and Mary were living in Etowah County (Ball Play), Alabama. James was 34 and was a laborer in a sawmill. Mary was 34. They had a son Edmond B., age 3, and a daughter, Mary S., who was 1 year old. Ben Head was living with them as a boarder. He was probably related to Mary. In 1910, James and Mary continued to live at Ball Play in Etowah County, AL. Edward (not Edmond) was 13, and Susan (formerly Mary) was 10. They were farming. In 1920, James H. and Mary were still living at Ball Play. They were both 54. No children were in the household, and James was farming.
