I found the following while looking for my William Alfred Dover in the 1880 census. It may be nothing or it MAY be. I am not sure. I looked through the archives but could not find it posted since 2002, which is as far back as I went. I would not be as suspicious if these two families did not live four doors away from each other. Any of you who live in the south especially and have the last name of Dover know often times people do not understand your last name or misconstrue it into something else. Sharon, Lucinda, wife of Jasper, was Lucinda Dover daughter of Dillingham & Elizabeth Helton Dover of Gilmer County, Georgia. Dillingham and Elizabeth were married in Murray County, GA. Dillingham Dover was the son of Frederick & Margaret Dover of Buncombe County, NC and later Gilmer County, GA. John M. Dover should be the son of James Bailey & Jane Maria James Dover son of Frederick & Margaret Dover. John's wife Esther was a CARROLL.
